Wow! What a great weekend! 🎉

A big 'thank you' to everyone who came along to our Open Studios weekend.

Over the course of the weekend we welcomed over 850 of you through the doors of Abbeymount.

It was great to see so many of you came for a chat and to see our creative space, and especially to the artists who showed their work.

🎨 It's an informal ‘meet the artist’ where she'll be on hand, alongside the gallery team, to talk about her current exhibition 'Unfixing'.

The event is free however booking is required - coffee and pastries will be served.

🎉 Introducing textile artist and print designer @kicikari00.

🌟 Karina is a textile artist and print designer known for her use of silk screen-printing techniques on fabric and paper, complemented by embroidery and appliqué.

🌟 Her diverse portfolio includes decorative textile graphics, dimensional soft sculptures, and large-scale quilts, inspired by everyday observations and personal introspection.

🌟 As the founder of Print Empress, Karina provides specialised screen-printing services to individuals and local businesses.

🌟 She also accepts invitations to set up printing stations at events or supports activists with Live Printing Services.

➡️ You'll be able to meet Karina at our Winter Open Studios weekend. On Sunday 1st December you can bring your own white or light colour garment to the printroom U13 and try screen printing yourself!

Introducing upcycled slow fashion designer @byjenbyrne.

🌟 She brings to life forgotten fabrics to create one of a kind cherishable clothing and accessories. Working in a way that is environmentally and ethically sound is at the heart of her process. Each piece is designed and made by Jen in her Edinburgh studio.

🌟 Shop from Ready to Wear or Made to Order collections which are updated throughout the year, reflecting the changing landscape of a craft made using only reclaimed and vintage textiles. You can also commission a bespoke piece from a wide selection of fabrics, or introduce a beloved textile of your own.

🌟 Regular workshops in sewing, upcycling and pattern drafting give the opportunity to join Jen in the studio and learn the skills of clothing repair, upcycling, sewing and pattern drafting.

🎉 Introducing ceramics artist @francesprieststudio. 🎉

🎨 Based at Abbeymount, Frances is a leading figure in the world of ceramics with a distinct hand and a clear voice as to the relevance and power of craft in contemporary life.

🎨 Edinburgh has been her home since she graduated from the Ceramics department at @edinburghcollegeofart in 1999.

🎨 With a practice that spans ceramic art, design and craft, Frances’s work has a keen following from private collectors and cultural establishments alike, for both her studio ceramics and tiled artworks for interiors.

🎨 Her studio ceramics are part of permanent collections at @museumsgalleriesedinburgh, The Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge and The V&A in London.

🎨 Her public works can be found at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital in Edinburgh, Raasay House on The Isle of Raasay, Theatre Clwyd in North Wales, and she regularly collaborates with architects and interior designers on private residential projects.

🎨 Frances is a Homo Faber selected maker, a QEST Scholar, and a Member of The Royal Society of Sculptors.

🎨 Her studio work is represented by Cavaliero Finn, London, &Gallery, Edinburgh, and her design work can be found at Bard, Edinburgh.

🌟 You'll be able to meet Frances on both Saturday 30th November and Sunday 1st December at our Winter Open Studios Weekend.

@ootbabbeymount residents @judyrclark, @christineclarkart and @louise.lacaille are taking part in a new exhibition at Dalkeith Palace @dalkeith_country_park.

Inception offers an extended programme and beautifully curated collection of sculptors, artists, photographers and painters.

Over 10 days art lovers will have access to artists and their work with an inspiring additional programmer of Palace tours, an online charity auction and an exciting Family Day featuring workshops and demonstrations for all ages.

🎉 Introducing fashion designer @robin_paine_artist. 🎉

🌟 Robin trained at Falmouth School of Art, Glasgow School of Art, Edinburgh College of Art (BA. hons.) and School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (M.F.A.).

🌟 She was a Finalist twice in London’s National Portrait Gallery portrait Award. Before moving to the US in 1992 she undertook Portrait Commissions through the Royal Academy Business Galleries.

🌟 Her work is in National and International Collections and she has taught widely (including School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, School of Visual Arts, New York, Harvard Summer School, Tufts University, Medford, Massachusetts) with a specialty in drawing and painting from observation.
