Squeegee meets Screen: An Introduction to Print Textiles
This 8 week course is the perfect introduction to textile screen printing. The course starts with research methods, creating mood boards, through to introducing stencils, positive and negative images, exposed screens, elementary printing techniques and layering of imagery. The final collection of samples and technical notes is the basis for further study and practice. At the end of the course you will have;
- Developed ideas from sketches, mood board to finish fabric collection,
- Gained a basic knowledge of basic printing techniques and processes,
- Improved your use of texture, colour through a design practice,
- Created a series of fabric samples
Dates: 27th January to 17th March 2018
Duration: 8 weeks
Time: Saturday 10.30am to 1.30pm
Class size: 8 max.
Materials: Although printing inks and some materials are included in the course fee if you wish to work within a particular colour palette the tutor will advise where you can purchase your inks. Students will be required to bring with them;
– Apron, cutting knife/ scissors/ scalpel and masking tape.
After 1st class;
Mood board, sketchbook, white paper, ink, paint, pencil, preferably in black, selection of fabric ( white/ cream/ pale), Tippex, scotch and masking tape, mixing cups and lids

Course Level: Introductory and those who are new to printmaking and textile design.
